Washington D.C. — The Energy Conscious, a rapidly growing e-marketplace for energy efficient and sustainable products launched its “Plant-a-Tree” initiative — a sustainability-based corporate social responsibility partnership with American Forests® and its Global ReLeaf® program.
“Plant-a-Tree” represents the commitment by The Energy Conscious to donate a tree through American Forests every time a customer purchases $100 or more of its efficient, renewable and sustainable products.
“There’s no limit to how many trees will be planted with American Forests,” said Nabil Estefan, founder and CEO of The Energy Conscious, “the more clients purchase, the more they participate in the planting of new trees and the positive consequence “Plant-a-Tree” has on the environment.”
The initiative’s charitable partner, American Forests, is the country’s oldest national conservation non-profit that, with the help of corporate partners, has planted more than 42 million trees since 1990.
“Plant-a-Tree” is a major step toward implementing a proactive social responsibility program that fits The Energy Conscious’ slogan of “My Money, My Planet” and broadly contributes to sustainable reforestation efforts throughout the United States.
“American Forests applauds the leadership role that The Energy Conscious is taking in promoting the importance of forests to its customers,” said Lea Sloan, VP of communications and marketing. “Forests are the most important land-based ecosystem in preserving the health of our planet, including helping to moderate the impact of climate change.”
Already laser-focused on offering a consumer experience rooted in saving money, energy and the environment, Mr. Estefan noted that planting trees was a natural extension of The Energy Conscious’ brand to more deliberately reduce its customers’ carbon footprint even further.

After the financial crisis of 2008, our founder, former CFO of Pepsi Co. Nabil Estefan, saw an opportunity amid the meltdown–a way to encourage homeowners and home builders to embrace energy efficient products that are good for the environment and that reduce energy costs.
The idea of The Energy Conscious was born out of the conviction that there should be a place to get products that save energy without being so expensive as to hardly make what you save on energy bill worth the investment. At The Energy Conscious, our Energy Star products, green products and other sustainable and renewable energy products are affordable and easy to browse.
Capitalizing on the ease and power of the Internet, The Energy Conscious is an eCommerce site for affordable, energy efficient products.
